Still in happy shock that I stumbled upon a Chocolate Mecca in the middle of the Biscuit Mill on a busy Saturday morning. Since watching that episode of MasterChef, you should know which one I mean. I am kinda obsessed with chocolate making. When I saw the chocolate tempering, all I could think of was Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Just wanted to cup my hands and drink it all! Then I remembered that the boy had gotten stuck in the tubes for being so greedy, didn’t he? Wonder what moral-of-the-story Roald Dahl was trying to get across.. Don’t go crazy for chocolate goodness? Alas that will not diminish from the fact that you will want to taste everything in this shop.

What I actually loved most however, was just how passionate and friendly the staff were. Cocoa Fair not only uses all organic products, but it is all sourced locally, or from Africa. They are also a ‘social’ company, meaning they put some of their profits back into the community, and work on projects helping disadvantage people find jobs, or supporting them financially. Read more about what they do here.

For the baking fanatics, you will be happy to know you can also purchase 100% Mixed nuts, Cocoa Butter, Uncooked raw cocoa Nibs and Cocoa Powder. Amazing product, and an amazing company. Next time you’re at the Biscuit Mill stock up, at R20 a slab, they are cheaper than other artisanal chocolates, and the money is going to a good cause!
